Product Overview

The Teck 90 Cable is a rugged, flexible armoured cable engineered for demanding industrial, commercial, and hazardous environments. Originally designed for Canadian mining applications, this CSA-certified cable combines interlocking galvanized steel armour, dual-layer PVC jackets, and superior chemical/mechanical resistance for reliable power distribution in exposed, concealed, or direct burial installations. Rated for 90°C conductor temperatures and -40°C cold environments, it eliminates the need for conduits, reducing installation costs.

  • Wide Voltage Range: Available for low voltage (≤1kV) to medium voltage (≥5kV) systems.

Electrical & Environmental Performance

  • Voltage Rating: Up to 5kV (shielded) or 1kV (unshielded).

  • Temperature Range: -40°C to +90°C (operating).

  • Flame Resistance: FT4 rated; passes IEEE 383, ICEA T-29-520 (210,000 BTU/hr), and vertical tray flame tests.

  • Insulation Resistance: Meets CSA RW90 (≤1kV) and CSA C68.3 (≥5kV).

Construction Details

  1. Conductor:

    • Material: Class B stranded bare copper (ASTM/CSA C68.3).

    • Shielding (≥1kV): Thermoset semi-conductive layer (CSA C68.3).

  2. Insulation:

    • ≤1kV: Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE).

    • ≥5kV: Tree-retardant XLPE (TR-XLPE).

  3. Metallic Shield:

    • 15% gapped copper tape (3-core ≥5kV) or concentric ground (single-core).

  4. Armour:

    • Interlocking galvanized steel or PVC-coated steel.

  5. Jackets:

    • Inner: Flame-retardant, moisture-resistant PVC.

    • Outer: UV-resistant, low-temperature PVC (-40°C).

  6. Bonding Conductor:

    • Bare copper (multicore) or concentric ground (single-core).
