Cable Construction

Center Steel Support Cable

  • Flexible, performance-rated galvanized steel wire rope support strand manufactured to Military Specification MIL-W-83420.

  • Coated with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) insulation.

  • Reinforced with a tightly woven braid of cotton.

Insulated Conductors (Optional)

  • Soft-annealed, bunched stranded bare copper per ASTM B3 and B174.

  • Insulated with flame-retardant 60°C PVC, rated 300V (UL 62, CSA C22.2 No. 49).

  • Each conductor is color and number-coded for easy identification.

Shielded Pairs

  • Two insulated 20 AWG soft-drawn bare copper conductors, PVC insulated, twisted with a bare drain wire.

  • Laminated polyester/aluminum foil tape provides 100% shield coverage.

  • Overall colored PVC jacket, rated 300V.

Coaxial Cable

  • RG‑6, 75 ohm, 300V rated coaxial cable.

Fillers

  • Fibrous-plied jute fillers create a circular cross-section, enhance torsion stability, and cushion the construction during flexing.

Braid

  • A tightly woven braid of cotton, rayon, or equivalent applied over the core to maintain core shape, torsion balance, and add mechanical strength.

Outer Jacket

  • Overall PVC jacket – smooth, flexible, abrasion-resistant.

  • Complies with flame test requirements of UL 1581 and CSA FT-1.
