Portable Mining Power Cable – Type SHD-GC 3C 2/0 AWG 2000V 90°C MSHA & UL Approved (EPR/CPE, Ground Check, Shielded)

Type SHD-GC 3C 2/0 + 3C 8 AWG 2000V 90°C MSHA & UL ICEA S-75-381 (Custom specifications for various power cables are available)

Product Overview

The 3-Conductor Type SHD-GC Mining Cable is an MSHA-accepted, heavy-duty portable cable engineered for extreme mining and industrial environments. Compliant with ICEA S-75-381, it delivers 2000V power transmission with integrated grounding and EMI shielding for high-risk applications involving mobile AC equipment.

Key Features & Benefits

  1. Enhanced Safety System

    • Dedicated grounding conductors + separate yellow ground-check conductor for real-time circuit monitoring

    • Overall copper/textile braid shield with non-conducting tape for EMI/transient voltage protection

    • Flame-retardant CPE jacket (UL flame test certified)

  2. Rugged Construction

    • Conductor: 6 AWG–500 kcmil coated annealed copper, ASTM B172 rope-lay-stranded

    • Insulation: Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPR) – ozone/heat resistant (90°C rating)

    • Shielding: Copper/textile braid over non-conductive tape + polyamide separator braid

    • Jacket: Thermosetting Chlorinated Polyethylene (CPE) – oil/abrasion/UV resistant

  3. Critical Performance

    • Voltage: 2000V

    • Temp Range: -40°C to +90°C (dry locations)

    • Certifications: MSHA accepted, ICEA S-75-381, UL File E482608

Primary Applications

  • Underground/Surface Mining:
Longwall miners, shuttle cars, LHD loaders, roof bolters, drills

  • Mobile Industrial Equipment:
Conveyors, pumps, excavators, draglines in oil/gas, quarries, ports

  • High-Risk Environments:
Areas requiring ground-fault monitoring + EMI protection

Standards & Approvals

  • Design Standard: ICEA S-75-381 (Portable & Power Feeder Cables for Mines)

  • Safety Certifications: MSHA Accepted (Flame Test Compliant)

  • UL Standard: UL File E482608

  • Material Standards: ASTM B172 (Conductors)

Engineering Selection Notes

  1. Ampacity Calculation: Use NEC Article 400 or MSHA derating tables for current ratings

  2. Bending Radius: Minimum 6× cable O.D. during installation/operation

  3. Ground Monitoring: Mandatory for MSHA compliance – connect ground-check conductor to monitoring circuit

  4. Environmental Limits: Dry locations only; avoid chemical immersion despite oil resistance
