CHEPFP80/NC Marine Communication Cable – EPR Insulated, Fire Resistant, LSHF, Flexible Copper Armor, No Outer Sheath

Product Overview

The CHEPFP80/NC is a specialized Fire Resistant (FR) marine communication cable engineered for applications demanding both circuit integrity during fire and a flexible, high-protection cable assembly for integration into contained systems. It features a mica glass tape and EPR fire-resistant insulation, a tinned copper wire braid armor for mechanical and EMI protection, and a primary LSHF inner sheath. Designed without an outer oversheath (Code 0), it is ideal for installation within conduit, trunking, or other protective enclosures where a final jacket is provided by the system itself, offering excellent durability and fire safety in a compact, flexible form.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Assured Fire Survival: Certified to Fire Resistant standard IEC 60331 to maintain functionality in fire conditions, complemented by Flame Retardant (IEC 60332) and Low Smoke Halogen Free (IEC 60754, IEC 61034) properties for overall hazard mitigation.

  • Flexible Armor for Protected Runs: The tinned copper wire braid armor (Code 8) provides robust protection against mechanical damage, cut-through, and EMI/RFI interference, while maintaining superior flexibility for easier pulling and routing within conduits or tight spaces.

  • Optimized for System Integration: The no outer sheath design reduces cable diameter and weight, making it the preferred choice for installation inside metal or rigid non-metallic conduits, cable ducts, or enclosed trays where external sheathing is redundant or provided by the containment system.

  • Core Protection & Signal Integrity: The thermoplastic polyolefin (SHF1) inner sheath offers essential bedding and environmental protection. The overall tinned copper braid or tape screen ensures reliable shielding against electromagnetic interference.

Applications

This flexible armored fire-resistant cable is specifically designed for integration into protected pathways and systems:

  • Fire-resistant circuits designed for installation within sealed conduits or metal trunking on ships, offshore platforms, and in industrial plants, providing a high-integrity, protected cable core.

  • Critical signal and control lines in power generation, chemical processing, and factory automation where cables are installed in pre-existing protective cable management systems that eliminate the need for an individual cable outer sheath.
