CHEPFP90/NC Marine Communication Cable – EPR Insulated, Fire Resistant, LSHF, Galvanized Steel Armored, No Outer Sheath

Product Overview

The CHEPFP90/NC is a heavy-duty Fire Resistant (FR) marine communication cable designed for applications where maximum mechanical protection and fire circuit integrity are required in a single, rugged assembly. It features a core of mica glass tape and EPR fire-resistant insulation, protected by a galvanized steel wire braid armor, and is finished with an EMI screen and a primary LSHF inner sheath. This “no outer sheath” (Code 0) configuration is specifically engineered for installations where the cable will be further protected within conduit, trunking, or as part of a system where an additional oversheath is applied separately, providing exceptional durability for exposed or demanding routes.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Guaranteed Fire Performance: Built to Fire Resistant standard IEC 60331 to maintain critical circuit operation during fire, combined with Flame Retardant (IEC 60332) and Low Smoke Halogen Free (IEC 60754, IEC 61034) properties for comprehensive safety.

  • Maximum Mechanical Durability: The galvanized steel wire braid armor (Code 9) provides superior protection against crushing, impact, abrasion, and rodent damage, making it suitable for the most physically demanding installations.

  • System Integration Design: The absence of a final outer sheath (Code 0) makes this cable ideal for pulling into conduits or ducts, or for use in systems where an overall jacket is provided by the installation method, offering design flexibility and reducing bulk.

  • Protected Signal Integrity: An overall tinned copper braid or foil screen ensures effective electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding, maintaining signal clarity in electrically noisy marine and industrial environments.

Applications

This armored, fire-resistant cable is designed for critical, high-risk installations where the cable requires superior mechanical protection and will be installed within a secondary protective system:

  • Fire-resistant circuits to be pulled into metal or rigid conduits on ships, oil rigs, and offshore platforms for maximum physical protection.

  • Essential control and data lines in heavy industrial plants (power, chemical, mining) where cables are installed in cable trunking or trays that provide additional environmental protection, but where the cable itself must withstand significant mechanical stress.
