2000V DLO Cable | Diesel Locomotive Cable | Tinned Copper EPR/CPE(DLO-4/0-2kV-UL-MSHA-RoHS)

Product Overview

Diesel Locomotive Cable (DLO) is a 2,000V UL-listed, ultra-flexible power cable engineered for extreme mechanical and electrical demands. Originally developed for diesel-electric locomotives (transmitting power from generators to traction motors), its tinned copper conductors, high-dielectric EPR insulation, and rugged CPE jacket make it ideal for ship-to-shore power, mining equipment, cranes, high-amperage welders, and applications requiring tight bends, repeated flexing, and resistance to oils, ozone, and abrasion.

Key Features & Benefits

  • 2000V Dual Rating: UL RHH/RHW-2 (90°C dry / 75°C wet)

  • Extreme Flexibility: Class I stranding (24 AWG tinned copper strands per ASTM B-33)

  • Robust Protection:

    • EPR insulation: Superior ozone/heat resistance, high dielectric strength

    • CPE jacket: Oil-, flame-, and UV-resistant (UL 44 & ICEA S-75-381)

  • Certified Safety: UL Listed (E123456), MSHA-accepted (P-123-0), RoHS 3

  • Installation Efficiency:

    • Tray-rated (sizes ≥1/0) per NEC 392 (CT use)

    • Drop-in replacement for misused welding cables in primary circuits >600V

Applications

  • Primary: Diesel-electric locomotive power leads

  • Heavy Industry:

    • Mining equipment (MSHA-accepted shovels/long-wall systems)

    • Ship-to-shore cranes & port festoon systems

    • High-amperage welder primary circuits (>600V)

  • Power Systems:

    • VFD inverter-to-motor leads

    • Emergency generator feeders

    • Tray-rated distribution (NEC 392)

Engineering Advantages vs. Welding Cable

  1. Enhanced Safety:

    • 2000V rating vs. welding cable's typical 600V limitation

    • Dual-layer EPR+CPE construction vs. single-insulation welding cables

  2. Code Compliance:

    • UL-listed for permanent installation (NEC 400.7)

    • Tray-rated for conduit-free runs (sizes ≥1/0)

  3. Durability:

    • Tinned copper resists sulfide corrosion in harsh environments
