Product Overview
This CSA MV-90/MV-105 URD Cable is a medium-voltage power cable engineered for Underground Residential Distribution (URD) and commercial power networks. Designed for reliable performance from 5 kV to 46 kV, it is suitable for direct burial, conduit, duct, and tray installations in wet or dry locations. Featuring Tree-Retardant XLPE (TR-XLPE) insulation and a copper concentric neutral, this cable is built for long-term durability and superior electrical performance in demanding underground and aerial environments.
Applications
-
Underground distribution of single or three-phase medium-voltage power.
-
Suitable for use in wet and dry locations, conduits, ducts, troughs, trays, and direct burial.
-
Sunlight-resistant for exposed outdoor applications.
-
Intended for continuous operation at conductor temperatures up to 90°C (MV-90) or 105°C (MV-105), with higher ratings for emergency overload and short-circuit conditions.

Cable Construction
The cable is constructed with the following layers for optimal performance and protection:
| Layer | Component | Material / Description |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Conductor | Solid or Class B stranded aluminum or copper. Moisture block optional. |
| 2 | Conductor Screen | Semi-conductive extruded layer. |
| 3 | Insulation | Tree-Retardant Cross-linked Polyethylene (TR-XLPE). |
| 4 | Insulation Screen | Semi-conductive, easily strippable extruded layer. |
| 5 | Neutral | Helically applied, annealed, solid bare copper wires. |
| 6 | Outer Sheath | Sun-resistant Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE), extruded to fill neutral wire spaces. |
