CHEFP92/NA Marine Communication Cable – EPR Insulated, Fire Resistant, PCP Sheathed, Galvanized Steel Armor, PVC Jacketed

Product Overview

The CHEFP92/NA is a heavy-duty, Fire Resistant (FR) marine communication cable engineered for the most demanding and exposed installations where circuit integrity during fire is critical. It features a robust, multi-layer construction with mica glass tape and EPR insulation, a durable PCP (Polychloroprene) inner sheathgalvanized steel wire armor, and a final PVC outer sheath. This design offers an unparalleled combination of fire survival, extreme mechanical protection, and environmental resistance for vital circuits in marine and heavy industrial settings where Low Smoke Halogen Free (LSHF) properties are not the primary specification.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Superior Fire & Mechanical Performance: Certified to Fire Resistant standard IEC 60331 to ensure continuous operation in fire, complemented by Flame Retardant (IEC 60332) properties. The galvanized steel wire braid armor (Code 9) provides maximum protection against crushing, impact, and rodent damage.

  • Robust Environmental Protection: The PCP (Polychloroprene) inner sheath delivers excellent resistance to oils, chemicals, ozone, and weathering. The external PVC outer sheath adds an additional layer of general-purpose abrasion and moisture protection, available in standard black or other colors for identification.

  • Reliable Signal Transmission: An overall tinned copper braid or foil screen ensures effective shielding against electromagnetic interference (EMI), maintaining signal integrity for critical communications and control systems.

  • Application Note: This “NA” flammability code cable is specified for applications where Fire Resistance (IEC 60331) and extreme durability are required. For environments mandating Halogen-Free and Low Smoke emission properties, please refer to “NC” designated cables in our product range.

Applications

This cable is built for the toughest applications where fire resistance must be paired with maximum physical durability:

  • Exposed fire-resistant circuits on ships, oil rigs, and offshore platforms, such as in engine rooms, along external decks, or other areas subject to severe mechanical stress, oils, and weather.

  • Critical control and instrumentation lines in heavy industries like power generation, chemical processing, and mining, particularly for direct burial, tray, or conduit use where crushing forces and harsh conditions are present.
